Off the streets and on to a better future

Tinashe and Blessing Shine

TWO boys from Faith & Hope Centre, Tinashe and Blessing, did extremely well in their examinations and their future prospects have never been brighter.

Tinashe, who was doing A-Level last year managed to score good grades and has since secured a place at Chinhoyi University of Technology while Blessing has just started his A-Level at Kuwadzana High 2, where his is studying Geography, History and Shona.

Tinashe has enrolled for a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) Degree in Tourism and Hospitality. He said once he was through with the degree and programme, he would be in a position to look after his mother and siblings.

Having been assisted by the JCF since 2002, Tinashe said his dream was to be able to give back to the foundation that helped him get established in life.

“I want to support this organisation financially if my dreams come true,” he said.

Blessing said the conducive environment to study at FHC enabled him to concentrate on his studies, and that was one of the reasons why he passed.

“We were given ample opportunities to study,” he said. “And the extra lessons that we did also helped.”

His desire in life is to study law after he is through with high school and he believes this is possible.

Just before the results were out, Tinashe had an opportunity to work at Innscor Africa as part and parcel of the food giant’s partnership with JCF.
The opportunity, he said, opened his eyes to a lot of things including the importance of maintaining high hygienic standards and providing good services to customers.

He urged the other children at FHC to strive to follow in his footsteps as he has laid a foundation for them.
